James E. Weger

Mr. Weger has been practicing law since 1982 with Jones Gotcher. He attended the University of Oklahoma, where he received his bachelor’s degree in 1979 and his law degree in 1982. He also attended the University of Oxford, Queens College, in 1980 as part of his law school curriculum. He has served as president and managing partner of Jones Gotcher since 1994.
Mr. Weger’s current legal practice centers on complex commercial litigation in state and federal courts across the country. He has represented numerous companies in all areas of commercial litigation, including construction litigation, commercial real estate transactions, EEOC defense, trademark infringement, environmental, securities, antitrust, and defense of professionals in E&O claims. He also represents clients in the areas of radio and television, banking, public educational institutions, residential and commercial construction/development, real estate brokerage companies, insurance companies, and several companies involved in IT development.
He has received numerous awards and recognition for his trial expertise including being recognized every year as a Super Lawyer since 2007, Best Lawyers in America since 2016, America’s Top 100 Lawyers, America’s Top 100 High Stakes Litigators, Oklahoma’s Top Attorney, as well as Tulsa’s Top Attorney.
Mr. Weger has held leadership positions for various community charitable organizations, including the Tulsa Metro Chamber of Commerce, Theatre Arts, Philbrook Museum of Art, Tulsa Opera, United Way, the Center for Physically Limited, and President of the Summit Club. He has also served as a commissioner of the Alcoholic Beverage Laws Enforcement Commission (ABLE) since 2017 and served as its chairman in 2020-2021.
